Fitness Milestones
Strive for progress - not perfection!

If you have been following along with the previous sections thus far, then chances are you now have a better understanding of how to set goals which are specific, measurable, actionable, relevant and time-bound. In addition, a critical skill that is often neglected in goal setting is how to break down the large goals into smaller, more manageable milestones. So if your goal is to run a marathon, your goal can can be divided into milestones that you can gradually achieve step by step. For example:

     
 

Goal: Running a 42k marathon

 
 
  • Milestone 1 - jog for 30 minutes every day

 
 
  • Milestone 2 - run 5k in 30 minutes

 
 
  • Milestone 3 - run total weekly distace of 15k

 
 
  • Milestone 4 - run total weekly distance of 30k

 
 
  • Milestone 5 - run total weekly distance of 42k

 

 

Now is your chances to set weekly milestones which will challenge you and make you uncomfortable on the path to achieving your goals. You must build a wall brick by brick, and accomplishing daunting tasks is no different. So if you've reached any of the milestones below, take a moment to applaud yourself. This is the beginning of a lifelong journey that will make you a happier, healthier and prosperous person.

Note: As shown in the following table, reached milestones are marked as "Done". Next week intended milestones are marked as 'Next".
